five-sense Friday

Last week I absolutely spaced on five-sense Friday. It was the last day of "spring break." We had just returned from a wonderful retreat in Michigan (thanks to an astonishingly kind someone), but we returned to chaos: news of gun shots, and friends' family emergencies, and a sudden need for me to learn to drive a gigantic van. Long story. Let me just say, it is a very big van.

Now we're getting back into the swing of things. Josh reads. I write. We climb up and down the stairs to do laundry. We drink tea in massive cappuccino cups. We listen to classical radio. So here is today, so far:

smelling: damp soil, and laundry soap, and last night's soda bread

tasting: milky, milky tea, and the promise of a bread and cheese supper with the girls tonight

feeling: warm? anticipation of tomorrow's cold?

hearing: all manner of people outside, and neighbors getting very mad about our front door NOT LETTING US IN OR OUT

seeing: the sudden spring phenomenon of everyone suddenly having a dog or a baby; green shoots from bulbs in the courtyard, right next to the budding garbage uncovered by melting snow

And you?
