five-sense Friday

Today I'm...

seeing: my pile of anthologies, fresh and ready for next week; drafts of this and drafts of that, printed and waiting for the revising pen; our neighbor waving and smiling good morning from her front porch in her housecoat, coffee in hand; the pile of produce in our fridge slowly dwindling as we work our way through it bite by delicious bite

tasting: thick-cut oatmeal with peanut butter and maple syrup; cheap and strong tea in a very tall latte mug; anticipation for today's planned coffee and book-buying outing

smelling: old coffee in the faculty kitchen; blue pen ink; flowery lotion

feeling: the rising excitement on a campus waiting to welcome back more students; a cool morning that promises hot sun by noon; weary in the best way after an especially well peopled series of days

hearing: the phantom toilet in the men's washroom down the hall that flushes on its own schedule; my own typing in the relative quiet; 8tracks folk playlists on repeat

  1. I absolutly love the smell of pen. Pens, paper, and books. Resons why I could never use a Kindle! I gotta smell those pages!!
