quiet evening grateful

Tonight I'm thankful for

• chocolate cake, leftover from a sweet surprise gathering for J's 30th
• sugar plum rooibos tea with milk
• a stitching project to occupy my fingers
• talkative students asking important questions
• brisk walks home, with good phone conversation to distract me from the cold and ice
• boots with decent tread on the bottom!
• plans to see faraway family on Thanksgiving--via the magical internet
• an almost-finished novel waiting for me on my side of the bed
